Candidate Page

CANDIDATE INFORMATION Welcome and thank you for visiting our Holimont Ski Patrol candidate webpage. We are a group of dedicated, hard-working, fun-loving volunteers attempting to ensure the safety and well-being of the skiers at the club. We are a group of people made up of from many walks of life who all share a desire to assist others. Below you will find the requirements to become a "local" ski patroller at the resort. You will be expected to maintain your privileges of being on the ski patrol by completing an annual Skills and CPR Refresher. In return, you as a local patroller at Holimont, will be given either a guest pass or family pass allowing skiing privileges for you or your family.  Your privileges as such, will be contingent upon skiing a minimum of 17 days per year as  a patroller. Primarily, the Patrol is interested in relatively strong, advanced skiers capable after training, of bringing a loaded toboggan down the slopes and to a first aid facility. Therefore, before you may become a candidate, you will be observed by the Ski and Toboggan instructors (“S&T”) to ensure you will meet the basic needs as a skier capable of being trained to safely and competently use a toboggan. If you are successful, or "checked off," you will be considered to be a candidate for the following ski year. For example, if you were “checked off” in December, 2008, you would then begin formally training in late August, 2009 for your Outdoor Emergency Care ("OEC").  Upon successful of OEC and passing a  written test, formal training in "real life" settings would occur at the resort with on-hill first aid and S&T training. Some weekends may require Saturday and Sunday training though not continually, instead, you will train on-hill doing first aid problems and later the same day, ski skills with the S&T instructors. Towards the end of your candidate year (early months of following year you started OEC class), you will be tested for first aid skills and skiing skills. We will be running ski evaluations throughout the ski season, likely beginning in Februuary, 2009 (weekends).   Thank you! If successful, you will be made a “local” patroller at Holimont. please fill out the following form, cut/paste and return it to:
